Meet Daphne, our beloved 12-year-old potbelly pig and the senior pig here at The Little Black Goat.
Daphne’s journey with us began when we came across two ads featuring her sweet little face—one advertising her as a “mini pig” pet and another with the heartbreaking intention of raising her for a pig roast. We knew we had to go get her, and we did.
For the first three years of her life with us, Daphne was a city pig. But moving to the country had always been part of the dream—a place where Daphne could have more space and where we could continue to grow our family of animals.
All these years later, Daphne is still here, living the life she was always meant to have. She is deeply loved, well cared for, and very much part of the heart of our sanctuary.
Her story is also an important reminder of why education and compassion matter. Potbelly pigs are too often advertised as “mini pigs” and later abandoned or rehomed when they grow larger than expected or their needs become more than people anticipated.
Daphne has been with us through so much, and now, as our senior pig, we feel incredibly lucky to continue giving her the safe, comfortable and loving home she deserves. 🐷❤️
